In a continued effort to give our players the very best training we have enlisted the expertise of the following instructors at our winter workout programs held at the UAlbany gyms and dome. These highly qualified instructors provide our players with top notch hitting, pitching, catching instruction and more.
Coach Matt Quatraro
Enters his second season in the Indians organization after being named Major League assistant hitting coach in November...This marks his 20th season in professional baseball, his 12th in a coaching capacity...Prior to joining Cleveland, he spent his entire baseball career with the Tampa Bay Rays after being selected in the eighth round of the 1996 Draft...Began his coaching career during the 2004 season as a catching instructor and coach at Short Season Class A Hudson Valley...Managed in the Tampa Bay system from 2006-09 and was the Tampa Bay player development hitting coordinator over four seasons (2010-13) when he tutored many of the future Rays hitters (Desmond Jennings, Stephen Vogt, John Jaso, Tim Beckham).
Played seven seasons in the Tampa Bay system as a catcher, first baseman and corner outfielder, topping out at Triple-A Durham in 2002...Compiled a career Minor League average of .286 with 202 RBIs in 415 games (.758 OPS)…Became the first Rays player to hit for the cycle on July 6, 1997, vs. Hickory...Went to Minor League camp with the Yankees in 2003 before ending career...Played with Mickey Callaway during his Rays tenure.
Full name is MATTHEW JOHN QUATRARO…Married to Christine...Graduated from Old Dominion University with a history degree...Was named the 1996 ODU Male Athlete of the Year and Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Coach Dennis Healy
Graduate of Ballston Spa HS (91) and The George Washington University (96), where he pitched. Coached for the last 19 years, 3 years as the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Cleveland State University. Followed by 5 years as the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coodinator at The George Washington University, 1 year as the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at The University of New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina, was named the Head Coach at Marist College in 2005. In 2009, took the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Job at The Wake Forest University. Specialize in Pitching and Recruiting.
Coach Bob Bogdan
Coach Bob Bogdan, a 40-year career coach who taught in South Glens Falls CSD for 30 years, was inducted into the South Glens Falls Bulldog Hall of Fame in 2011. Coach Bogdan also volunteered as a coach of American Legion Baseball in SGF for 17 years, at Post 553, where he was awarded a Life Membership for his work. He has also served as an assistant coach with the Glens falls Eagles of the NY Collegiate Baseball League in 2005-06 under legendary HC John Mayotte. Currently is an assistant coach at Skidmore College entering his 14th season where the 2005 Team was inducted into the 2011 Skidmore Athletic Hall of Fame as a Team of Distinction. Coach Bogdan has coached well over 1500 games at 3 levels high school, legion and collegiately and is still active at baseball camps, clinics and showcases. Recognized for his life long career in baseball he was winner of the John Cerutti Sportsmanship Award and inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013.
